Michael brings over 30 years of teaching experience to the academy at Glen Abbey Golf Club which is Home to the Canadian Open.
He has been a Class A Member of the Canadian PGA for over 26 years with career highlights including being selected to National Posts Top 50 Instructor's in Canada, PGA of Canada Ontario 'Teacher of the Year' and PGA of Canada Toronto Region 'Teacher of the Year'.

From 2007 - 2012 he owned and operated the Michael Crane Golf Academy at Lionhead Golf & Country Club and from 1999 - 2007 he was the Executive Director of Golf for the Academies at Golf Town. In his tenure with Golf Town he assembled a team of over 40 Canadian PGA Professional’s for 35 stores across Canada and was responsible for the design, development and creation of the Academy and its teaching philosophy Nationwide. His duties included managing, recruiting, training, and evaluating all Canadian PGA professionals. He also developed, implemented and coordinated a club fitting certification program for the company and was responsible for aligning the forward thinking retail operation at the time with state-of-the-art teaching software, simulators and launch monitor technology.
He entered into the golf business at age 16 apprenticing at The Board of Trade Golf & Country Club where he worked for 9 years and then started his full-time teaching career in 1996 at Lionhead Golf & Country Club. After spending 2 years there he became the Senior Teaching Advisor to the Glen Abbey Academy in 1998 and is again thrilled to be back.
Michael has written numerous articles for Score Golf Magazine, Golf Scene, Think Golf, Ontario Golf News and the CPGA. He’s also had the opportunity to work with some of Canada’s top NCAA, Canadian and Nationwide Tour players. Aside from teaching any level of player he also spent a considerable amount of time mentoring, coaching and teaching his son who was a member of 13 CJGA Team Canada’s & 3 U.S Kid's International World Cup Cup Teams as well one of the youngest competitor's ever to play in the Ontario Amateur and qualify for the Canadian Amateur.
Michael’s teaching philosophy, communication skills and golf swing expertise has made him one of the most sought-after Teaching Professionals in Canada and throughout his years has mentored over 50 Canadian PGA Golf Professionals who continue using his proven and successful teaching philosophy.
