About Michael Crane

Michael has over 30 years of teaching experience, providing golf lessons in Oakville, Mississauga and the Greater Toronto Area. Most recently at Glen Abbey (2012-2020), one of Canada’s most famous golf courses, host to 30 Canadian Open Championships, and now located at Vic Hadfield Golf & Learning Centre.

Before Glen Abbey, Michael was based at Lionhead Golf & Country Club from 2008-2011, privately operating his academy and overseeing junior camps, ladies’ clinics, golf schools, leagues, private and group lessons.

From 1999-2008 he acted as the Executive Director of Golf for the Academies at Golf Town, assembling a team of over 40 Canadian PGA Professionals for 35 stores across Canada. Responsible for developing the company’s teaching philosophy in what became a multi-million dollar Academy operation. Recruiting, training and managing all Canadian PGA instructors Nationwide and travelling the world researching state-of-the-art simulators, launch monitors and teaching software while integrating a club fitting certification program for all staff. Forging Golf Town as the go-to destination for golf instruction and receiving an expert club fitting experience.

Having apprenticed at The Board of Trade Golf & Country Club, he entered the golf business at sixteen and started a full-time teaching career ten years later at Lionhead in 1995 and then at Glen Abbey in 1997. Premiere facilities laid the foundation for establishing his teaching philosophy while working with some of Canada’s most accomplished NCAA players—very talented athletes who went on to play the Canadian and Nationwide Tours and several PGA Tour events.

As a dad, he mentored his son Damon—a 13 CJGA Team Canada & 3 U.S World Cup International squads member. One of the youngest competitors at 14 to qualify for the Canadian Amateur, accumulating numerous tournament victories, a low score of 65 and 3 hole-in-ones.
